::For the World

A poem
For this World

she stands alone
all too huge globes unopened
head cast down
seemingly sailing above treacherous ground
a single tear slips silently by
and threatens to join the murderous throng
one and a million dreams and wishes
all of which she loved so well
none of which she'd known enough to tell
wintry coils of anticipation
teased ebony tresses of a new but lost nation
in forgiving the sins of her father
muted entreaties offered
all in vain
sudden fervor
dark orbs prevail
fire as cold as ice pierce
the now dusk sky
a shrill oath saved
plunged
and then
down came the rain
in feverish torrents
in angry pours
like that of opened doors
and
then
deafening silence
as the final strands of black settles
salvation
